It is a truth that I have long acknowledged: if there is a jar of Pip & Nut in my flat (which, more often than not there is), I will devour it in under a week. As I’m sure many other Pip & Nut fans will attest, there is no other nut butter like it. And I’ve tried many. The straight up crunchy peanut butter remains my firm favourite, but the coconut almond is also a real treat.
Gingerbread Almond Butter
This week I was able to try the latest of the Pip & Nut limited edition flavours: the Gingerbread Almond Butter. It is a blend of smooth almond butter with ginger and cinnamon spices and dates for a subtle caramel flavour.
This is definitely a taste of the season in a jar. The warmth of the ginger and the sweetness of the dates make this nutty butter feel really decadent and cosy. It definitely feels a lot sweeter than the peanut butter, but goes equally well with chopped apple or swirled into hot porridge. If you are looking to get more adventurous with your nutty recipes, the Pip & Nut site offers ideas for Gingerbread Almond Butter Truffles and Gingerbread Almond Butter Hot Chocolate, both of which look totally delicious.
High in fibre and plant based protein, nut butter is delicious addition to snacks and smoothies (or, as I often find, unceremoniously spooned straight from the jar!).
Working with Hackney Foodbank
And if the delicious warm fuzzy feeling from the cinnamon and ginger isn’t enough, then the 25p from every jar bought that is donated to Hackney Foodbank might help boost the warmth.
We’re really proud of our new Gingerbread Almond Butter not only because it offers a delicious, versatile and fun seasonal flavour but because it provides us with another opportunity to support our local Hackney Foodbank at this time of significant need. The charity has seen up to triple the demand for food parcels during the Covid crisis and there’s no sign of this easing up in the next few months.
Pip Murray, Founder at Pip & Nut
And this is on top of the ‘One for You, One for Us’ partnership with Hackney Foodbank, where you can opt to donate a jar of nut butter directly for each one you buy.
The story behind the brand
I also love the story behind Pip & Nut and how the founder, Pip Murray worked and worked to make the brand the resounding success it I today. You can read more on the Pip & Nut website, and while you are there you may want to add a few jars of deliciously nutty butter to your trolley!
