How honest are you? I’m not talking about the little white lies we all tell from time to time. But rather how honest we are with ourselves?Perhaps you have dreams or desires you’re not sure how to express. Or maybe you avoid confrontation and would like to be truer to your inner feelings. Being true to ourselves can feel risky. By being honest we open ourselves up to criticism and rejection, two of the feelings we tend to fear the most.
Self-Discovery
Honesty isn’t a right or wrong choice, it is not the inverse of lying (at least not in this context). Rather its about understanding what our true feelings are about a situation and trusting them. You know the saying ‘trust your gut’, it’s that. It’s knowing deep down that you are making the right choice for YOU. And that it’ll be totally ok if things don’t work out.
To be honest you need to explore your true feelings and the type of person you want to be. This may seem like a hugely overwhelming prospect. Most days I don’t know what I want for breakfast, let alone what type of person I want to be. There thought of it alone has me spiralling into an existential crisis, I mean where do you even start?! With a Be Honest Journal as it turns out.
Write it down
Journalling is an opportunity to get all the ‘stuff’ in your head out and on paper so that is stop consuming you and you can start working through it all. Thoughts and ideas that had been all over the place aren’t quite as overwhelming when you see them in black and white. It sounds so simple, but the idea of just throwing out thoughts onto paper can feel really overwhelming. It is definitely something I’ve struggled with in the past.
The Be Honest Journal helps you to navigate this block. Prompts get you to meditate on your feelings and dig deep to uncover what you really believe in a way that’s really constructive. The Journal is structured in a way that means you can complete as much or as little as you want at any time. There’s no guilt if you don’t finish the whole section in one go. It encourages you to work with the emotional energy you have.
The Be Honest Journal is an amazing tool if you want to dig deeper into who you are and go on a journey of self-discovery. Every prompt has a purpose. It helps facilitate honest self-inquiry, and gives you to the space to express your inner thoughts and feelings. If you’re looking to explore who you are and get honest with yourself then get a Be Honest Journal is an invaluable guide.
