Jeans you can work out in? Does that sounds crazy to you? Yes it did to us too – so that’s why we just had to find out for ourselves when Replay launched their Hyperskin range. Amy who is a bit of a fit fashion obsessive tries them out…
The Style:
So the Hyperskin come in 2 different styles, the jegging yoga pant style or the 5 pocket skinny with a button and zip. I opted for the jegging as I didn’t really fancy working out with something with a button and zip fastening – but that’s just my preference. I also went for the dark blue colour option. So, I’m not going to lie, I was dubious – and when they arrived I was even more dubious as they looked utterly teeny but remember that is the point of this design, they stretch, a lot.
I put them on and honestly they felt great – so light and comfortable – very stretchy (Replay have created a bidirectional hyper-stretchy material that ensures 100% elasticity) and you really can tell – they do feel like sports leggings. I was surprised…and a lot more confident about doing a workout in them now!
Style – they are a nice colour and have 2 nice seams up the side for a little style detail. My one negative – is that there is a prominent seam down the front of the jeans which… *ahem* creates an illusion of an unfortunate nature…. However, despite this I styled it with one of my longer tanks so they then looked fab and headed to the gym!
The Workout:
I went to FORM Studios for one of their signature METcore classes to try out these leggings as I thought it would be the perfect test – a mix of pilates type exercise and some cardio so I could see how they hold up to getting a bit sweaty as well as full range of movement. At first I felt a bit self – conscious, like on the occasion that you see someone jogging in the park in jeans and you think ‘hmmmm not ideal’ … now I was that person! However honestly these jeans move with you, are light as a feather and to be honest I quickly forgot I was wearing jeans! They performed fantastically. They aren’t 101% opaque but equally not particularly see through so you can get away with them and as I said movement wise there was no restriction at all. Even when the class got a bit sweatier they were very light and at no point I felt uncomfortable or weighed down by them.
My Conclusion:
Would I wear them again? The short answer is yes and I have! They were super comfortable to workout in, however because of the slightly dodgy seam you have to be careful what you style it with. Having said that what I really love wearing them for is running about town out of office hours, shopping, walking the dog, brunch.. you know basically everything! They are the ultimate link between sports wear chic and relaxed off-duty wear and if you were running straight from a barre class to meet the girls these are ideal. I love wearing a sportier look in my down time and as we know it is becoming increasingly fashionable to do so, so these are absolutely perfect and I’ve been wearing them heaps – I like wearing them with a over sized jumper and my Nike kicks… and the best bit – when you’re done running about you don’t even have to change out of them to kick back on the sofa, as they are as comfy as a pair of leggings! Win win!
