By Chloe. is a fancy fast food restaurant taking the western world by storm. It is 100% vegan and 100% instagrammable too! The menu is free of meat, dairy, egg products and contains no saturated animal fats, cholesterol, artificial flavours and preservatives. The eatery caters for everyone, whether you’re nut free, gluten free, soy free and even kosher they have you covered.
Following a very successful brand launch in New York USA, by Chloe. have opened four restaurants in London. They also offer delivery via Deliveroo, which is perfect with the next phase of lockdown pending! The American influence is present in the design of the restaurants as it reminds me of a hip, burger joint that you would expect to see in places like New York or Las Vegas.
Fish Free Fridays
To support the ‘Fish Free Fridays’ initiative launched by the Vegetarian Society, by Chloe. have been offering a reduced price for their famous vegan Fish’N’Chips through October. They have also been posting information about ocean conservation on their social media channels! I’ve actively been cutting down my meat and fish intake for the future of our planet and whilst I know I will never be 100% vegan or vegetarian I think it’s incredibly important for everyone to make small changes where they can. Just having one or two vegan days a week makes a huge amount of difference.
Luckily, they were kind enough to invite me and a friend to their Covent Garden branch to try out the wonderful Vegan menu!
Vegan Fish ‘N’ Chips?
I had the Fish ‘N’ Chips meal, which includes pressed battered tofu, chips, mushy peas, and vegan tartare sauce. The ‘fish’ both looked and tasted great. Before cutting into it you would never know it wasn’t fish, they even replicated the skin using seaweed – a very creative idea.
Battered tofu wrapped in seaweed Yum!
I didn’t think they completely managed to replicate the texture of fish using tofu, but at the same time I sympathise that this would be very difficult to achieve. Tofu can be quite dense in consistency whilst fish is flaky and light. The chips and accompanying tartare sauce were excellent. Overall, I’d say it was a fantastic vegan twist on a traditional fish and chips!
What else is on the menu?
My friend had the Guac Burger featuring a patty blend of black bean, quinoa and sweet potato, paired with the Oh So Fancy Fries – air-baked fries with spicy seitan chorizo and other delicious sauces. They also loved the burger and fries and would highly recommend as a vegan alternative!
Final thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff were very welcoming, the restaurant was clean and appealing, and the food was tasty, well portioned and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again soon!
