Since taking up my interest in endurance sports up a notch this year, my christmas wish list has changed a lot. It’s centred around tech that what would help me be more outdoorsy as well as things that would improve rest, recovery and relaxing. Like Eliza, I’ve learnt a lot in the past year about the beauty of making experiences and I think these items will help in different ways.
Blaze Wear Women’s explorer jacket, from £199.99
Ok, so winter 2018 is (so far) proving not to be as beastly as last year. But if the cold, cold snap happens again, I’d love the Women’s explorer jacket from Blaze wear. The beauty of this jacket is that it has heated panels sewn in, which should help you keep nice and toasty while exploring the Peak District or urban landscapes.
Pulseroll vibrating foam roller, from £100
Foam rolling has taken a new meaning with Pulseroll. The foam roller has a vibrating setting and from what those who’ve used it have told me, it’s a game changer.
[I think Mara & Bethan have been talking to the same people – check out Bethan’s Christmas Wish list too…!]
Liv Cycling Envie Advanced 1 bike, £2,199
My current bike is a bit clunky and heavy. Everyone I know who has a Liv bike has sung praises about the bikes. It’s got to be a tough choice between the Envie and Avail. Smooth and effortless to ride as well as a great design, what’s not to love?
Nike Metcon 4 Crossfit Shoes, £114.95
Joining my local crossfit box has been one of the great things I’ve done this year. It’s added a variety to my training and so many times I feel so out of my comfort zone. But you know what, stepping outside your comfort zones will empower you and lead you to achieve things you didn’t necessarily think you could do. With these Nike Metcon 4s, very soon I may find myself not only looking like a crossfitter, but they may just give me the magic power to do a handstand and climb a rope.
Knomo organiser, £59
I stumbled across Knomo while out in Covent Garden one weekend recently. Organiser heaven. Simple designs that creatively create space and help you to organise your bag, tote, luggage or rucksack. Whether it’s the Beauchamp rucksack or the Mayfair Knomad organiser bag, the clever slimline features still let you pack a lot. No more need for trying to find that phone charger cable at the bottom of your bag. Like I said, organiser heaven.
Neom Scent-to-Make-You Happy candle, £30
I find candles and oil burners so calming and soothing. Sometimes after a busy week, I just want to fall back on the bed, play my favourite playlists with a scented candle on, its scent wafting through the rooms. The Neom Scent-to-Make-You Happy candle contains oils including neroli, mimosa and lemon. Sometimes it’s the little things that make you happy.
Jaybird – Tarah wireless sport earphones, £89.99
The Tarah earphones from Jaybird have got rave reviews. They’ve got a long battery life to see you through a (very) long run or a gym workout. They’re also durable, sweatproof and the style of the fit of the earbuds means that they apparently will be more secure.
Garmin Forerunner 935 watch , £389.99 (on sale from £470)
The Garmin Forerunner 935 watch is another with lots of good reviews. Battery life has lasted up to 16 hours for some. Perfect if you’re training for Ironman or another long-distance triathlon and provides a variety of data if you like your numbers.
Tropic Like It’s Hot swimming costume, £112.07 (US$140)
I love a bit colour and unusual prints in my fit kit. Tri Sirena is an American triathlon brand with the most colourful kit out there. The Tropic Like It’s Hot collection is my favourite, especially the swimming costume. If you’re looking to buy from the collections, Tri Sirena is also offering a 10% discount if you use ‘sirenfitlondoner.’
Becoming by Michelle Obama, £19.99
Just 18 days after its publication, Becoming has become the best-selling book in the US. The snippets I’ve read from reviews give an insightful view into life for Michelle Obama during her time in the White House as well as a humorous story to how she and Barack Obama dated.
