Whether we like it or not, in 2020 staying in is the new going out. But that doesn’t mean we have to drop our standards when it comes to celebrating special occasions!
Back in January I thought I’d be celebrating my first wedding anniversary with a trip to New York, but COVID had different plans. I pretty quickly worked out we wouldn’t be going anywhere in 2020 and I’d need to think creatively to make our anniversary special. Luckily the team at One Fine Dine had my back!
What is One Fine Dine?
Founded earlier this year, One Fine Dine is the ultimate home dining experience, based on award-winning private jet catering, with no need to go out, navigate the risks of public transport or even take off your sweatpants. The team prepares Michelin Star quality food and delivers it right to your door, ready to heat up and plate (they even give you instructions on how to make it look just so!). It’s just the thing for a 2020 celebration.
I really couldn’t have been more excited when Winston from One Fine Dine dropped off two beautifully presented boxes and shared his tips for making sure our food was just perfect. The excitement only continued as Mike and I dug into our packages and discovered not only beautifully presented food but also a lovely bottle of wine and an apron so we could real unleash our inner master chefs! It was honestly beyond anything I could’ve expected.
Delicious food
Each component of our meal – a delicious line caught sea bass with roasted cauliflower, cauliflower puree and herb polenta followed by a dark chocolate sphere with honeycomb – came ready to go straight in the oven or microwave and it was really easy to make sure everything was ready at the same time, something that’s always a challenge.
Next came the fun bit, plating up! One Fine Dine really thought of everything and each dish comes with instructions on just how to plate up the food and Mike got very into making sure everything was just so! One Fine Dine isn’t just style over substance, the food was absolutely delicious, and, unlike a lot of fine dining, the portions were really generous, we even had some leftovers.
Final thoughts
One Fine Dine is a truly lux experience that’s perfect for a special occasion, but it does come at a price. It is very much in the treat category as you’re paying pretty much as much to eat at home as you would in a restaurant, and I think that if it wasn’t for COVID restrictions I would’ve opted to go out. However, with the possibility of a socially distanced Christmas looming a lux dinner you can warm up at home could be the perfect consolation for having to skip your normal family shindig!
